Billy Merman

Billy Merman was one of several names under which the songwriter Bill Giant, also known as Bill ‘Harvey’ Zimmerman, recorded as an artist. His brief stint as a singer lasted for ten years between 1956 and 1966, during which Giant recorded for the record labels President (as Billy Merman), Mark (as Ethan Giant), Signature (as Bert & Bill Giant), Dot, MGM, Avon, Bounty and Decca. He did not receive widespread popularity as a singer, but enjoyed a successful career as a songwriter, one part of the song writing trio of Giant, Baum, and Kaye. The majority of their work was used for Elvis Presley movies, but they did pen the highly successful 1963 chart-topping Elvis Presley song ‘(You’re The) Devil in Disguise
